The Dúnedain would arrive in western Cuiveinen nearly three thousand years ago in the company of the Noldorians and followed by a band of Middle Earth Orcs. The Dúnedain and Noldorians would live peacefully in Emlyn alongside the Cimmerians and Fomorians who they would consider second-class citizens. The Orc horde would grow and adapt, often interbreeding with the darker and more contrary Fomorians, keeping the Dúnedain in a nearly continual state of war.

This would change some when the Andals arrived. The Andals would quickly join the fight against the Orcs and drive them far to the north. It would be in Emlyn that the Andals would first settle as a camaraderie had grown between the knights and soldiers. The early Andals had no problem with the Noldorians but when the movement against magic and non-humans swept in from Kraestret caused by the Svartalmane the local Andals would turn on the Noldorians as well.

The Dúnedain would do their best to protect their allies from attack, but the Andals were simply far more numerous and the Dúnedain were given one choice, convert to the Thorn King or die alongside the elven scum. Many would convert, more would fight, but nothing would stop the religious juggernaut and the Noldorians went into hiding -- their goal -- to protect the powerful secrets of their race deep in the underground of Emlyn.

Out of this time period, a half-elven race, the Peredhil would be born. There are practically no pure-blooded Dúnedain left in the modern age but a respected lineage of noble families still trace their history back to their earliest arrival and it is by this history that a human may claim the right to be known as a Dúnedain.
