Talk:Andus Today

From Sanctuary Shard

While it may have appeared as if Andus weathered the storm of the Thorn King age better then others the influences were no less impactful. In recent years the monotheistic worship finalized under the hand of Acrab as proclaimed by the Sultan to be placed up on the Arcanum Crystal. In a short time, the full teachings of Acrab would be revealed and an age of enlightened thought would begin.

Andus is a culture that has been deeply blended by all manner of travelers and heroes. In its past it has seen the arrival of the Rhoynar from the far south, The Children of the Forest from the North, the Atlanteans from the east, and many more. Andus is truly a melting pot of sand and sea, lush hills and fragrant oasis.

In recent years, it has once again become a beacon of reason, art, literature and science. The Order of the Silver Key at Meissa has released from hidden vaults a vast store of ancient knowledge. In accordance with Acrab's wishes the role of woman as equals has been made into law.

And in most recent news, the Court of Contention opens and the shrines to Janus, Vulcan, Fortuna and Minerva have been reconsecrated.

Mood of the Capital
The mood of Al'Shadiya is mixed, for a lot of change has come quickly, and the older generation is unsure and often resistant to the change. While many religious, social and economic freedoms were lost during the age of the Thorn King, it will take all the assurance and conviction of the heroes to lead these reserved people forward into an age of freedom and prosperity.

Acrab and his Court

His teachings give the Zephrin people Eight Commandments, and the Five Pillars of worship; Purity (Acrab), Beginnings (Janus), Industry (Vulcan), Fortune (Fortuna) and Wisdom (Minerva).

I am thy father, thy master, thy judge. Seek not others before me, for their laws do not govern thee. And thus I command thee.

Walk a path of righteousness. Honor my laws. Honor thy father and mother. Honor the blood of my land. Honor the five pillars that I have given thee. Seek glory in my name. Glory is the sublime balance between justice and mercy.

Be always the right-minded man, forsake lust, ill-will, cruelty and pride. Suffer not the ignorant, the wicked or those who put themselves above the position I have granted. Understand my truths. The circle of suffering does not end with this life, and each has the right to walk another turn of the wheel, and thus gain release.

Judge not lest ye be judged yourself. Judgment is reserved for those highest in my eyes. Forget not that those most high in my eyes are most watched. Make right speech. Let thy speech be both honest and harmonious. Let not thy words place another in a position lower than thee, speak in full dominion so that truth becomes a worthy act.

Make right action. Take not that which is not thine by right, by need or by spoil. Make not right an excuse for greed. Speak not of need that which does not nourish your body, or the lives of your children. Wage not war for spoil, gain or dominance. Remember that in all things I have granted thee free will, let mine gift not destroy thee.
