Herding is a craft skill on Sanctuary like on Grimmwold. However, OSI/Base UO Herding is also implemented a part of this skill. Items and NPCs still need to be placed.

  • This skill can be used to herd items, please see Herding on UO Guide.

Honey & Raw Beeswax

Honeycomb can be gathered from the community bee hives (usually found near each town's garden area) by someone with the Herding skill. You then use Honeycomb Processing Kettle (as made by Tinkers) to extract honey and raw beeswax.

Butchering

When one of the following animals is killed hunting, you can use a dagger on the animal to get an unbutchered animal. The unbutchered animal can then be cleaned and butchered by someone with the herding skill, using a normal dagger within 2 tiles of a butchers block. (Updated 09/23/12: The spawns for these animals may not be named exactly like this, and they may also be recolored.)

  • Fatted Cow
  • Adult Deer
  • Plump Chicken
  • Big Rabbit
  • Fatted Goat
  • Fatted Pig
  • Plump Sheep
  1. Use a dagger near a butchers block on the corpse to skin the corpse. You will receive any appropriate hides, feathers or wool at this time.
  2. Use a dagger near a butchers block on the on the skinned corpse to obtain usable meat for cooking. The herder cuts the animal up into single serving portions.
  • Cow, Deer, Rabbit and Goats give raw ribs.
  • Chickens give raw birds and chicken legs.
  • Sheep give leg of lamb and raw ribs.
  • Pigs give bacon and ham.

Apiculture

Not yet implemented

Once you reach 80 herding, you can purchase the book Apiculture from the Book Seller at The Shoe which will teach you how to convert raw beeswax into rendered beeswax so as to be able to make candles and other wax products.

  1. You need to go to one of the community bee-hives and gather Honey Comb.
  2. There are some areas in the world that have Wild Bee Hives and Honey Bears as well.
  3. Use a Honey Comb Processing Kettle (made by tinkers) on the Honey Comb to get honey and raw beeswax.
  4. Use a Wax Processing Pot (made by tinkers) on the Raw Beeswax near a heat source to make Rendered Beeswax.
  5. Use a Wax Crafting Pot (made by tinkers) to make blank candles and wicks, which are then used to make various types of candles.
  • Colored Candles are colored randomly. We have put in a selection of about 15 colors that should cover all the colors needed to role-play candle magic, and still be nice as deco.
  • Candle Fit Skull can be found on Skeletons.
  • Essence of Love is also a Mob Drop found on Pixies.
  • GM Anatomy is required to shape a wax bust to an actual player character.
