Noble Houses
+
Alliances
For maximum political role-play potential players should sort themselves into noble houses in much the same way that Game of Thrones does.  There will be between 15 and 25 Great Houses and numerous banner houses.  To keep the game balanced, there will need to be a nearly equal number of Great Houses in each kingdom. This isn't necessarily easy to accomplish as players tend to lump together.  We will do our best to balence the natural flow of role-play while keeping it from becoming too lopsided.  Leaders of kingdoms and great houses will need to be prepared to build allies within or without of their own kingdoms.

To begin I will be taking submissions from players who want to create or run a noble house. From this list of applications I will pick who will start as the ruling great house for each Kingdom, which houses will be Great Houses and which ones will be banner houses.

;Ruling House

:There are five ruling houses, one for each kingdom. The current ruling houses have been in control for at least five years prior to our arrival, and perhaps for much longer.  All ruling houses are also great houses.  We will being game play with just 5 great houses set up in RPCSS.

;Great House

:There are probably a lot of great houses that have risen and fallen over the centuries prior to our arrival, but at the present time, there are only a few with armies enough to impact the upcoming new cycle.  Great Houses have the ability to play RPCSS with armies to fight with.  As we attract players more slots for Great Houses will open up.

;Banner House

:A banner house is allied to a great house, in the beginning all banner houses will be allied with the ruling house of their kingdom.  Banner houses do not have enough armies to make a huge impact on any battles, however they do have the ability to call up forces and advance to being a Great House, and play the game should a slot open up.

Details on Noble Houses
* Because of the nature of how heroes arrive in Sanctuary noble houses should not be based on blood ties.

* The application for each house should include some history of the house that your character now runs, the story line for the house should not include your character.

* They don't actually have to be based on nobility, any realistic historical premise should be fine as long as it is land based and uses land based armies as that is a current restriction of RPCSS.  Consequently, mercenary groups, knight orders, merchant guilds, barbarian hordes, etc, are all acceptable.

* For a banner house to be elevated to a Great House (or the ruling house) there must be an available slot in your kingdom for a new RPCSS team, AND there must be two other dedicated players who can take over the team if the leader goes MIA.

There are five Kingdoms on the mainland, a few islands, and an underground. The setting of the world is from a time period where kings may rise and fall with the turn of a season. As in the early medieval era, the lands are ruled by dozens of feudal lords each master of their own Estate. Their power extends only as far as their sword and the might of their forces. Kingship goes to the one who controls the throne and commands the loyalty of the lords around him. Yet shifting political winds may run a Lord afoul of their command and a smart player will seek to join a powerful political alliance.

Maps & Facets

We will be using three of the UO map slots.

 1. Summer Isle, a small pretty map with a completely custom land and buildings will be home to new players, casual RP, light hunting, crafting and "safe housing". Summer Isle is rated-PG and RP requested but relaxed -- we expect a certain level of ooc need to explain things game mechs. Summer Isle exists fictionally in the waters to the west of Cuiviénen.
 2. Cuiviénen which uses the main UO map, is completely custom and the largest of the maps. Cuiviénen hosts the RPCSS estates and player-driven story line. Cuiviénen is rated "adults-only" and is RP required.
 3. The third map is used for Underhill. Underhill exists just below Cuiviénen and is our primary high-end hunting map. Underhill is rated PG, is RP Optional, and may have its own seer run storylines. Read More ..

Summer Isles.jpg Summer Isle (Capital Evervale) RP-Req Rated-PG
Under the protection of the Grey Rider, Summer Isle is as lovely and as peaceful as any traveller to Sanctuary might hope. The beautiful architecture spans half a dozen cultures, and has been known by many different names over the millennia; including the Grey Havens and Sommerset. Upon your arrival in Sanctuary, it will be here that you arrive -- just outside of town, in a building that some claim resembles a large boot. The cobbler's wife is a friendly sort, and always has tea on for those heroes in need of a bit of bracing as they adjust to their new home. Come on in and sit a spell ...
Underhill 1.jpg Underhill (Capital Noreia) RP-Opt Rated-PG
Where do the forgotten go? To Underhill! to Underhill! To walk the Labyrinth, hoping to find the last of the Dark Crystals in a world of Legend. Underhill is a place that exists just below the lands of Cuiviénen and Summer Isle. A place of lost creatures, forgotten gods, unsolved puzzles and keys to broken locks. Seek Underhill in the center of mazes, behind hidden doors, down stairs that seem to go up, within wardrobes, and a dozen other places that exist but perhaps... should not. Read More ..

Alliances

Sanctuary does not currently support normal UO guilds. The guild system is reserved for political alliance role-play on the main land, Cuiviénen. If you feel there is a need for another political group in the role-play you may fill out an Alliance Application and post it to the forums here. Please note that this is not the application for estate owners which requires just the normal character application.
