Other areas of note
(but not player towns)
Monstestary of Meissa

A visitor to the monastery of Meissa tends to notice two things, when he
first arrives; or perhaps it would be accurate to say ‘the lack of two things’.
Firstly, there is nothing ugly at the monastery. Everything has been designed to
enhance the beauty of the area. Secondly there are no discordant noises; no
shouting; no noise of busy traffic or commerce (as one would find in Arjat for
example). Such noises as there are tend to be the ringing of distant bells, the
sound of water in the gardens, and the quiet hum of conversations.
In the centre of the settlement is the monastery itself. According to the
stories, the prophet Haddas sat down under a date palm tree by the central oasis
and taught from there. His disciples realized that they needed structures in
which to live and work, and thus the monastery was constructed, literally around
him as he taught. Now, many thousand years after his death, at the very centre of
the monastery stands a pagoda, built over the exact spot where he sat. Within it
is the preserved body of Haddas, and a marker noting the spot where he sat and
taught. It is a great favor to be allowed to sit on that spot, and this is
reserved, on the whole, for the Al Aqrab, although, on very rare occasions,
some visitors have been accorded this honor.
The Salt Flats
Beyond the wall that
divides the hostile southern Genubi from the populated northern Genubi stretches
the great salt flats of Zuben, the wealth of a nation. And area is
strictly controlled by the powerful Salt Pasha and the Salt Riders.
