Physical DescriptionDark skinned, shades of cafe to dark coffee. Skin is weathered and leathery, though the ladies use a variety of oils to soften their skin. (details on what the oils are made of). Hair is black brown, though many of the women use henna to redden it. As they age their hair gets silver gray streaks. Hair is often worn long, or in top knots. Some of the desert folk will actually shave a portion of their head around the top knot, which is always long. The monks often go with shaven heads. Women will make complicated plaits in a portion of their hair, but rarely wear it up. Long hair, for both men and women is a sign of beauty. The hair of these people is thick and heavy, unlike the dark shades of the snake people, who's hair is soft and wavy. The desert people commonly have brown and black shades for their eyes, though the occasional forest green and gold is possible. They are a wiry people, well suited to the harshness of the desert. Merchants and city women will often be on the rubenesce side, as extra weight is a sign of prosperity. Only those that work for a leaving are likely to be thin, most of the rest of the race will have a layer of extra weight on them, especially during prosperous times. Make up and perfumes are common in this culture, such as henna, harquus, and kohl are used to adore faces and bodies. Designs are abstract florals predominantly, and the choice of designs often has some superstitions meaning meant to bring luck or honor to the wearer. FacesThe faces of the desert folk is carved and powerful. High brows, long straight noses slightly to large for their faces. Warm generous mouths and deep set eyes under thin straight eyebrows. Ears are rounded. Life SpanThe Zuberi are the shortest lived of all the races, the oldest known Zuberi reached the age of 135. Yet unlike the Valgarins, the Zuberi are more likely to reach ages of 100 to 110, given their extremely hardy nature. MonksThe monks are from all walks of life with in the desert culture, and they are known for their highly religious beliefs that translates into both the martial and the mystical. Much of a busido martial code can be found among those who train in the monastery oasis. |
