PersonalityUpdated: 01-26-05 GeneralThe Zuberi are a warm gregarious people with a love of friends and family. they have a subtle and witty sense of humor and tend to avoid crude humor. Sexual innuendos are reserved for when in the company of men, slaves or widowed women. Physical contact between members of the opposite sex is limited, but those of the same gender are physical and close. It is not unusual to see two men or two women walking together hand in hand. Arguments between spouses, friends, and people in general are also kept private or conducted in a way that guarantees no one else is aware of it.
Specific VariationsShaulaThe Shaula tend to be more reserved then the Jabbah until they get to know you. There ways have become such because of the difficult lives they often live. A person who becomes the friend of a Shaula is a friend for life. Honor, religious devotion and humility are three of the most important behaviors respected by the Shaula. Sincerity is a hall mark of their culture, a Shaula who needs to express something of importance will often squat down to speak. JabbahThe Jabbah are often described as friendly and curious. They desire a stable government and secure foreign trade. It is often a frustration to the Jabbah that the Shaula remain divided on some issues of government. Jabbah rely on the Shaula for some of their goods, especially the salt riders for the salt that is precious to all Zuberi. Jabbah are more accepting of outsiders then the Shaula. while the Jabbah are religious, they are not as "fanatical" as the Shaula, perhaps due to foreign influences. Although rare, there are some Jabbah who do not pray regularly, this would be unheard of among the Shaula. Gambling, drinking and prostitution are more common among the Jabbah, and occasional street urchins and homeless beggars can also be found. Jabbah tend to equate wealth with worth, and the noble section of the city is located far from the hovels of the poor. There is still one place where the once barbaric nature of the Jabbah can be seen, the gladiator pits. Although even there the Jabbah tend to try to out do each other with the amount of gold they will bet, and those who loose large amounts of coin will shrug it off, for to despair over ones losing would show them to not be wealthy and their social standing would be lessened in the eyes of the other Jabbah, regardless of their true monetary worth. Al-AqrabThe Al-Aqrab as most beings come in many different personalities. Usually (and there are cases where this is not so) Monks tend to be caring people. These are the people who become Al-Aqrab to Serve and help rather than to preach. They tend to lend a hand and have a fairly liberal translation of teaching and prophecies. These people do not usually come from wealthy families and do not become Al-Aqrab for the prestige that comes along with it but rather to spread general good. Al-Aqrab Scribes are far different than monks. They usually
come from better families and are more focused on what the position can bring
them. While a Scribe might pour himself over a manuscript all day trying to find
a hidden meaning or clue to something a monk would be out spreading Acrab's
word. Scribes tend to be somewhat more fanatical and most take meanings of
teachings literally. They tend to be somewhat colder due to their work and
oftentimes they carry a sense of importance one does not find in a Monk. |
