GeographyUpdated: Jan 26, 2006 ArjatShamali DesertThere are two main oasis that lie in the Shamali Desert. They are the Oasis of Acrab's Heart and Whispering Palms. The Shamali desert is much safer and fertile then the Genubi, and generally warmer. Housing here is mostly Bedouin tents. The nights are cool but not cold. Additionally a number of tribes have moved into the Gahrahn to continue the farming of olives and dates in that area seasonally. Life inside an oasis is reasonably comfortable. Water and some farming is possible. However most Shaula do not settle at one oasis year round, and most tribes are herders. Cattle, goats and camels being the primary stock. There are a number of smaller unnamed oasis in the Shamali desert that are just places someone will stop for the night, or to gather the rich fruits that grow there. Flood Plains
Gahrahn HillsThe rich grassland supports a reasonably wealthy group of “gentleman” farmers and small villages, where the only “law” is the Jadir who owns the land. Consequently the Gahrahn Hills has been known to hide its share of criminals and bootleggers from both Telrae’dor and Zuben, as this area, where locals “mind their own business” is an excellent place to lay low for a few days or even months. The Genubi also holds the salt flats and the gold mines. |

To
the east of Arjat lies the fertile flood plains and the Thuben cradle, what is
left of the great Thuben river. The flood plains are used to grow a large
variety of crops and the Thuben cradle is considered a holy river and is often
used for bathing.
There are
only small oasis in the Genubi Desert. The Genubi is hostile and only the
hardiest of folk wander or travel there. There are likely a small variety
of wandering tribes, but none settle for long in any one place.
