PersonalityThe Valgarins are a cautious people who will prepare to defend themselves when they come across any they do not expect to meet. They are most content when with their clan folk, or working - as work is its own reward. The view of wealth depends on which of the three personalities of Yrsa they worship. Some see wealth in the family a large well knit family is a source of wealth, while others see wealth in the amour and weapons that they own. Still others look to wealth in the wealth of victories on the battle fields. A wealthy man in this mind set would consider himself a great man if he had killed the greatest number of the enemy forces in a battle. one is poor when they are no longer welcome by there clan, loose someone dear to them, or are defeated in battle and are stripped of all of their amour and weapons. The Valgarins can become angry over little things, especially the men. (this may be due to high levels of testosterone) The easiest way to anger a Valgarin is to insult his clan, or question his honor. Very little distresses this hardy people as they live through hardships most of there lives with the long cold winters. A mother would become upset if one of her children decided to leave the clan and strike off on their own. While the father would be upset at not being able to aid that child should they come to a rock and a hard place. Valgarins are always happiest while celebrating, be it a wedding, the coming of spring, mid summer, the fall harvest, the mid winter celebration, or victory of a great battle. They even celebrate at funerals, it is a little sad as you will miss the person, but they have gone to live with Yrsa, and there is nothing to be truly sad about that. It is a time to celebrate their life not morn their death. |
