1. The Valgarins wear a variety of clothing that ranges from a Scottish to Viking style. The Ceiki favor kilts and light tops of linens and wool while the Skoll and Dverge both lean towards wool and furs. Tartans are often worn and crests displayed. [Read more on clothing]

2. Valgarins are a hardy people who do well as herders, ranchers, and crafters. Skoll and Dverge seem to have a gift for masonry, smithing, mining and stonework. While both Sioba and Ceiki enjoy trading and merchant life. [read more on trades, and on the unique crafts]

3. Goat milk and cheese, meats from wild game, fish, and hardy crops such as tubers, carrots, and cabbage are common food stocks. Meat is preserved in the winter months with salt and herbs. Summer meals are rarely spiced. [Read more on food]

4. There are a variety of Valgarin specific classes that can be role-played by both mages and fighters. This is not necessarily the definitive list. [read more on the different occupations]

5. Don’t insult them and they won’t punch you is a good rule of thumb. The Valgarin race is a proud and hardy one. The men especially are easy to anger but can be as jovial as they are explosive. 6. Valgarins are tall, and built strong. Though generally pale skinned, there is a fair variety of hair colors. [read more about appearance]. Dverge have an average height of 4'5".

7. Mearsuinn are the horses of Valgard. Similar to the original Morgans, the large elegant breed works as a draft horse, riding horse or warhorse. Yaks, red deer, mountain goats, wolves, and many other animals can be found in the wild. [Read more about animals in Valgard]

8. The Valgarin kingdom borders a great sea. High in the mountains, in small valleys, are the mountain homes of the Skoll. The Dverge live higher up in the mountains, near their mines. The highlands are nestled at the foot of the mountain, rough moors and sweeping hills, hiding dark stormy lochs. [Read more on geography and towns]

9. The Valgarins form of government is the Clan System. Each clan has a Laird (Ceiki) or Thane (Skoll) and the Thanes elect a High King. 10. Most of the houses are made of great logs and stone. The Ceiki cities are mostly made of stone, log, and Tudor. Thatch roofs are the favored style. [Read more on homes]

11. One of the oldest enemies of the Valgarins are the Thurer, or trolls as they are also called. They inhabit the Eastern Ice Valley along with Skogsthur, or lesser trolls. Also, firebogs can often be found roaming the moors. [Read more on hostiles]

12. Valgards bigger exports include long goat hair pelts, and trained hunting animals. Major Imports include such things as fresh fruits and vegetables, magical and alchemic ingredients and fabrics from the desert traders. [Read more on import/export]

13. Valgarins speak common (English) interspersed with native tongue. (Swedish terms can be found among the Skoll, while the Ceiki use Gaelic sounding terms.) [Read more on language]

14. Resources in Valgard include Ore –, Copper, Tin and Iron, Timber, Sea food – Fish, crabs, oysters, etc., Wool – Coarse (From the sheep) Wool – Fine highly prized (from the long hair goats) Potatoes, Livestock – Huge Oxen, Great white wolves, and hawks trained for hunting. 15. The Valgarins, especially the Skoll are known for their fine tapestries. They also practice the art of Lokk, a singing of messages and signals used to make their voices heard over long distances. [Read more on art & literature]

16. Because of the great honor that can come from winning a battle the Valgarins never shy from battle, and are willing to die if the cause is something that they believe in. Warriors of a clan are called hirdsmen/women and are well prepared for warfare. [Read more on combat/war]

17. Valgarins enjoy a number of games and contests including Merel’s (or Nine Men’s Morris), stone tosses, and the rousing game of “last man standing”. Pipe grass is enjoyed whenever there is time; however alcohol is a constant. [Read more about drugs and gambling]

18. Family is very important, as is respect for Elders. Most Families live with several generations all under one roof. [Read more about family]

19. It is every Valgarin’s duty to grant a traveler in the wild, shelter for at least one night, no matter how humble it may be. Though it is a duty, most valgarins don’t mind the company of a new face. [Read more about hospitality]

20. The Valgarin believe in a heaven called Valhalla and a hell for souls Yrsa deems unworthy. Weddings are fairly complicated, including bonding, animal sacrifice, vows, and an over the top after party. The dead are generally burned, or laid out to allow the birds to eat them. 21. Slavery in Valgard is a byproduct of war. Slaves are treated as family, though they answer to everyone in the house, including the children and are subject to punishment. Slaves can earn their freedom through pleasing their masters. [Read more about slavery]

22. The goddess of the Valgarins is Yrsa. She is the goddess of war and death, but also birth. Associated with birds, Yrsa is believed to have three personalities: the death crone, the warrior maid and the hearth mother. [Read more about Yrsa] [Read about Valgarins relationship with Yrsa]
