Application Process

Updated: Nov 28, 2005

Hello, thank you for your interest in the World of Comraich. We ask you follow the steps listed here in filling your Application.

  1. Fill out the appropriate application and post it on the Open Application Board for review. There are a number of sticky threads on the Open Application Board, many of which have recent and relevant information.  You may wish to read those to see if there has been any changes you should know about before applying.

  2. If you are wanting to create a second character you must apply on the application boards with the new character application, which will be approved like all apps. Please do not create a second character without permission.

  3. When you post using a board account, please make sure the DISPLAYED name matches your proposed character name (use the Profile link at the top of the boards). Not only will it come in handy for you later when using the boards, but it saves us GM's tons of grief trying to figure who it is that is posting. Also, if you have an ICQ name different than you player name, please mention the ICQ name in your application. Happy GM's mean happy players.

  4. NOTE: It is STRONGLY recommended you fill out your application in a text editor such as Notepad and paste it into your post. This will allow you to break it up into multiple posts on ONE thread and not loose it.

  5. If you register for a board account and are having problems with it (i.e. your password wasn't emailed, your password isn't working, etc.), contact Halikar (ICQ: 54135034, AIM: hquestral, email: Halikar@halikar.com)

  6. After posting your application, it must be reviewed by at least 3 people who give it a "thumbs up."  With a finally "approved" by one of the shard staff.  If you get an "approved" by a staff member PRIOR to getting all three thumbs, then you do not need any additional thumbs.

  7. You may be asked (and it is helpful in getting your required thumbs up) to come into our chat room and talk with us so we can get to know you.

  8. NOTE: Please do NOT delete a app that has been given a thumbs down. Even a disapproved app gives us a way to get to know you as a person if you continue the app process. Also remember to post improved apps on the SAME thread as the original. We use the number of threads to determine the number of applicants and having multiple threads for yourself does not improve your chances (it makes it harder on us).

  9. The staff and player approvers do their best to keep up with all the applications, but the process takes a while as we are very careful. If more then a day passes and your app is not getting ANY notice, or if its scrolled off to the second page, please read it over again and try to "flesh it out". Apps with limited details often get ignored.

  10. If you think we may have just missed it (it hasn't been updated or posted to for about 72 hours) do a reply to it and type "bump". this will move it to the top of the list and flag it as new. Do not do this willy nilly or it will be the cause of us denying the application.

  11. We don't want to miss anyone, but impatience goes over like a lead balloon here. After being approved, please download the needed files for your UO client at one of the following locations: Comraich File Downloads, also read the Getting Started Page

  12. After you have gotten your files, come into IRC to request a user name and password. Staff in IRC is denoted with a '@' before their names. If one is available they will usually ask you to PM (private message them) with account information. They will ask you for a user name and password that you would like to use.

  13. Log into Comraich and page a staff member using the Help button on your Paper Doll (alt+p). Choose the New player set up option and state you are waiting in the Start Up room for your character creation. The staff member will help you get your character set up.

  14. If there is no staff member available, which happens occassionally, please feel free to go into the garden area and read the books laid out for you.  This will give you something to do and shorten the setup process when a staffer arrives.

  15. The setup process takes about an hour.  You will get help with setting up your skills, choosing your hair and skin and finally a tour of your chosen kingdom.

  16. After being approved your application will be marked completed, moved to the completed board. If your application is denied, it will be locked unless/until you can show a valid reason (demonstration of maturity, RP style consistent with the shards, existing players to vouch for you based on past association, etc.) for it being unlocked to continue the application process.

  17. If you receive an "automated" email from the "Comraich Shard" it is likely your MESSAGE BOARD account, this is NOT your GAME account and can not be used to log into the game.
