Animal Harvesting

Animal Harvesting
05/01/05 - For the sake of both logic, scripts and ease, silk, honey and
spider silk are under plant harvesting not animal harvesting.
9/17/04 - Because the complete domestic animal system is not in at this
time, you can get normal items off wild animals. Things like hides,
meat, milk, etc. Once the full system goes in however, these items
will only be procurable from domesticated animals. You will need
approximately 10-60 skill in Animal Harvesting to get the most basic items.

Animal Harvesting is a system that is only partially complete. What
is listed here is what is ACTUALLY working. For the complete pending
design please see the following documents:
General Overview of Harvesting
Design Specifications for Animal Harvesting
Harvesting from
Non-Domesticated Animals
You will need a little bit of animal harvesting to harvest items from
non-domesticated animals, things like dragon’s blood, spiders skill, deer
skin, etc. This will be done on the corpse of the animal/monster once it is
killed. The .grab will auto use your animal harvesting skill when doing a
.grab if you set your autocarve.
Pole Fishing
There are a number of ways to fish in animal harvesting. The two most
common will be stream-pole fishing and sea-net fishing. Stream-pole fishing
works just like UO does now, toss a pole into the stream and randomly pull
up fish.
Pole Fishing now involves a process of trying to reel in some of the
fish. Sometimes it will take a good deal of effort in order to pull the fish
up. In these cases, the fish is considered to be a bigger fish. Fish like
this are called "prize fish".
When cut into steaks, prize fish produce many more than normal fish do.
Also, prize fish can be given to NPC fishermen and entered into weekly
fishing competitions. The fish is weighed and ranked with everyone else's
entries. At the end of the week, the competition is over, and the 3 people
with he largest fish are awarded some experience: 1000 for first place, 500
for second place and 250 for third place.
If you catch another prize fish after you give the fisherman an entry for
the contest, he will compare the weight of any new fish you give him to your
previous entry, if bigger, he will update your entry to the bigger weight.
He will keep the fish if you make a larger entry, but not a smaller one.
To get the status of the currently running competition, say "competition
status" to the fisherman NPC.
Seaboat Fishing
Sea-net fishing will actually work more like mining. You will “prospect”
for a school of fish that you want, then haul it in.
Sea/Boat Fishing is not in yet ....
