Jillhani

Lethe'aime and the Dishonored.

A Jillhani whom has lost honor has very few choices. One of these choices is exile. Some strive to regain their honor, doing what they may to show their continued loyalty to the House from which they've came, or to support their families which may too have been marked for their deeds. Others throw their old lives to the flames, embracing their new found freedom from honor and abandoning all that is Jillhani. Either way, those that survive their exile often travel to Lethe'aime, and there some thrive and others are forgotten.

Jillhani that have been expelled are rarely accepted into gangs of the other races, for the nature and personalities are typically hard to understand for most non-Jillhani, and in a no-mans-land one likes to know what to expect from their "friends." Because they cannot seek protection elsewhere, two groups have formed.

The Black marked Jillhani are those that wish to return to their home, some of them are expected to try to redeem themselves. Some of them refuse to understand their dishonor and insist to return as they are. They try to appear Jillhani as best they can with what is within the badlands, but they have shed all their signs of honor. Their House signs are painted black, their emblems too are black. Any sign of their former identity is gone, their title has been stripped away, yet they wish to one day to lay claim to them again. Out of necessity they have formed a group within Lethe'aime, claiming a small district and doing as best as they can to recreate Bishani, and out of all the districts it is the safest. Yet it is still a far cry from Bishani. Though some of the Black marked truly do conduct themselves as honorable Jillhani, there is not one of them that have been exiled without reason, and some have more reason than others. Many understand only their own view of honor, or see themselves not to subject to the Jillhani's code, and although to trouble another resident of the Black marked district would result in their banishment, non-Jillhani entering the district can often expect swift response and loss of their possessions-or life. Even though outsiders typically suffer such a hostile reaction most of the gangs leave them be, for the Black marked do the same for them, and do not interfere with whatever they may be doing. Those gangs that do try more aggressive actions are quite few, for those that do face retaliation from a force of vicious warriors with all the skill of a Bishani soldier, plus the rage and abandonment of one scorned and exiled from their homeland. Though the Black marked have no "Gang Lord," their isolationist tendencies tend to make dealing with the rest of Lethe'aime quite simple, and order is maintained by the majority of the Black marked whom follow the Jillhani Code and act as guards within the district. This does not guarantee a Jillhani's safety, however, for extortion is not unheard of, and it is all but guaranteed when a non-Jillhani has been invited to enter. When the Guards do carry out their form of justice it is usually by banishing one whom has proven to be a troublemaker, this banishment typically consists of taking anything of use, including arms and armor, and them throwing them out to the other gangs.

There are also the Jillhani that have no wish to return to their former home and value freedom above honor, assuming they value honor at all. Though they are, more or less, permitted within the Black marked district, they have no desire to return to something so similar to what they have escaped. They instead tend to band together and hole up in the distract of another gang, typically one that is weaker or leaves them be. Because they go where they please they tend to be quite unpopular in comparison to the isolationist Black marked, yet they survive for they protect their own as viciously as the Black marked protect their district, and not all trust the Black marked not to help their Jillhani brethren should a gang war ensue. As far as leadership goes, freedom is still valued above all, but anarchy is somehow avoided. A loose pecking order emerges and there is a mutual respect between the oldest members of the gang. The rogue Jillhani, what with their traveling about Lethe'aime, tend to interact much more with the other gangs, often getting in business deals where they barter the goods they have captured through stealing and caravan raids. The Rogue Jillhani's gang -is- a gang, yet they could not escape the feelings of honor that they've been taught entirely. They will protect even the newest member at any cost, and those that fail to do this are abandoned and must seek protection elsewhere, and rarely will another gang accept a Jillhani, much less one that was ejected by their own.

Often these two groups will join together to raid the caravans of non-Jillhani, the Black marked wearing their Jillhani-styled armor and dress, marks of identity painted over black, and the Rogues wearing whatever they have collected, sometimes even sharing arms. The Black marked, striving to redeem themselves in battle, will keep only what they need and smuggle their loot back into Bishani, hoping to eventually prove himself worthy and regain his marks of honor, or to pay off and bribe a House into accepting him into Bishani once more. Others bring the goods to their former House or familiar out of simple loyalty, asking nor expecting to regain his honor, but silently hoping it may one day be so.
The Rogues, too, will sometimes smuggle their goods into Bishani, but to sell on the black markets or secretly to a house directly. Of course, Black marked or Rogue, any caught by the City and House Guard, they would be considered to of returned after banishment and punished appropriately. Most Rogues, however, will be quite content to stay away from the land many have grown to despise, and sell the goods within Lethe'aime. What profit is made, and what goods are kept, are hidden away in secluded locations or within whatever home the Rogues currently claim. Though the Rogues do not share what they can carry, what is stored away is the possession of the entire gang, and this cache will too be protected from any outsider thieves.
Though the Rogues will often tag along with the Black marked for caravan raids, they also tend to go on their own private raids, sometimes hiding their identity as Jillhani and hoping to frame and incite rival races into future battle. Should their enemies battle, they might gather what is left of the dead, or quietly raid the camps of warriors as they battle in hopes of stealing supplies. The Black marked, in a time of War, will not steal but fight any enemy of the Bishani Jillhani, in hopes of regaining their honor in combat.

Should ever a victimized Kingdom ever ask the Jillhani of Bishani of these bandits raiding their caravans, they would deny their existence entirely. The dishonored are not Jillhani. They have lost their honor, they have lost their name, they have lost their title. They have not died, for they never lived. They do not exist.
