PoliticsThe Throne of JadeAbove the clamor and scheming of the council sits the empress/emperor upon the throne of Jade chosen by the hand of Ji'Kalna herself. though advised by the council the empress/emperor must stand apart and focus their attentions upon the unity and overall well-being of the entire race. Only those bearing the dynasty staff and chosen by the hand of the goddess are acknowledged to be sovereign empress/emperor. Dinugai: [Also known as the Game of council]The Jillhani are known for their love of strategies and the game of Din Din is a good way to show it. The political aspects of the race are varying within the sub-races, but are most strongly seen with the Ji'Mal Lords/Ladies. While seemingly just ruling their house, trading, skirmishing with other Lords/Ladies and living a comfortable life, there are things going on behind the scenes. A never-ending struggle exists for place on the Imperial High Council. Such struggles have lead to various characters and organizations springing up. With the passing of Lord Daikasa, it was now clear as day that organizations lead by shady types were now in existence. Occasionally word would travel through the land of a noble murdered in the dead of the night, attacks on caravans, or even the rare attempt on a House Lord or Lady’s life. While to an outsider this might seem as a brutal and cruel way of action it is not something uncalled for. With the fall of one house, another grows stronger as the fallen is assimilated by the victorious. When assimilation is complete all possessions property and belongings of the defeated house become the victors. It has even been seen on very rare occasions that an ambitious Noble would dare an attack on a house in hopes of a chance to get recognition and establish himself as a House Lord. There are 5 Great Houses. Each house while having a different agenda of its own, usually have the highest place of honor on the Imperial Council. A House consists of numerous lesser noble houses and commoners in service of the house. While tradition only allows those of bloodline to the current servants to serve a house, it is not unseen that outsiders have been allowed to come into service by swearing loyalty to the House Lord/Lady, and to the family Natami. Dinugai also plays an important role in a house, for if the natami of a house is for some reason stolen by another house, that house will fall in disfavor in the eyes of Ji'Kalna. Thus the guarding and safekeeping of the natami is important not only politically, but also spiritually. The House charters (the aspect of Ji'Kalna they follow) were set millennia ago by the founding fathers/mothers of the Houses. That aspect of Ji'Kalna has been followed since then by those of that specific house. Granted there might come a time where a successor might wish to change the charter. If that is the case, then there’s only two ways to do so (could add more depending on the approval/disapproval rate on this post). The first and most likely to happen would be if the one wishing to do so was a Lady/Lord of the House, and if they had the family Elder's approval on the House blood side (Lord/Lady's bloodline). If that were the situation it would require a year of very long rituals performed by the Priest(ess) and the Lord/Lady to honor each of the predecessors and seek their blessings (one reason this method is not very used is because if we say each member lived 100 years, that roughly adds up to 10 rulers in 1000 years. multiply 10 by roughly 3k-4k and you have ALOT of rituals to perform.) if one of the spirits of the revered ancestors were to not give its blessing then the ritual cannot continue. When performing the ritual each ancestor is given the reason for the change of charter. The second and final method is when the successor is not of the bloodline (those who have married into the family and have succeeded the Lord/Lady) and the ritual must be performed. In this case the family’s living elders must give consent to the change before the ritual can even be performed. It has been known yet never spoken of due to fear of death that Lords/Ladies have occasionally had the disagreeing Elders -removed- to maintain a cohesive approval. If such an action were to be found out that House would be greatly disgraced, and would face extinction. |
