Creation Myth
Taliba, when writing this, Morg has said she thought it was a bit too
gruesome, so take out the whole birth water thing and see what else you can come
up with.
also, I like the idea of the god giving birth to the race, however that is in
conflict with my other creation goal. how about a myth something like this ...
the goddess is the sister to the 2 other gods and one other goddess. this
goddess is well loved by the brothers for she is the youngest and sweetest,
however the older sister hates her, and wants the land her younger sister had
chosen, as the older sister ended up stuck with the snowy reaches. soooo after
the younger brings her chosen to this mountain land, the older plots and plots,
finally dragging the younger deep into the sea and throwing her into the belly
of a great sea serpent. the younger transforms in her death taking on the form
of the serpent and its tremendous power and knowledge. rising to the surface she
discovers the slaughtered bodies of her chosen scattered on the shore. in her
grief and anger she dives deep into the sea only to be caught but an ancient sea
serpent who forces her to mate with him, she kills him but still conceives.
returning to the surface, she returns to her human form, the brilliant markings
of the serpent across her back. she gives birth, the birth water flowing over
the slain bodies of her choice, and they regain life, the birth waters of the
mother flowing into them and returning them to their mortality. the younger
stays in her human form for 9 days and 9 nights, stalking naked down the shores
as her chosen watch her in silence. on the tenth night she returns to her form
sliding into the sea.
