Tyrnea Ghymn
(Children of the Forgotten Ways)
Few enter the white woods, some because they believe it is haunted and
others because they know not what lives there. A small set of stone steps leads
up the steep bank and a path wanders thru a thick glade of trees. If one was to
wander far enough, one might find the remains of an ancient hill fort. Small
cottages nestled in the thick copse over looking the white woods, down into mist
and mystery.
The villagers say those that make this their home are strange, in a way
only Dyrlings descended bearing the recessive traits of the Leune Sidhe can be
strange. Is it a look, a mark, an unseen shadow? What marks these children as
other then their kin? Thousands of years have passed, and by all accounts the
blood of the mothers should have faded and been lost.
Yet now and then, one is born, some here, some there – they feel that
pull, that lure to return to this place where once she ruled, and loved and
bargained for the lives of her people. So on those lands where fairies once
danced, the great god strode; his mane thick and his countenance beautiful. The
queen bargained then as she had never bargained before and upon the mead and
clover the god lay with her children and from their womb sprung all who would
now be know as Dyrlings.
And so, at one time or another those who are called Leune return to this
ancient hill fort and for a time or longer find solace in the quiet village
nestled in the foot hills.
(Town is purposely not marked on the map)
Tyrnea Ghymn is the village
located deep in the White Woods. Used as a training grounds and safe haven for
Dyrlings who have discovered that they have the recessive traits of the Leune
Sidhe. In the village, Leunes are taught to control and use the skills. They are
taught the taboos as well. Male Leunes tend to be more aggressive than the
females, as they don't control it as well. Also the mate of a Leune can help
siphon off some of the aggression. Leunes need emotions to survive. There are
two "versions" of the Leune...the functional and the non-functional. The
functional Leune knows how to control their abilities and is able to integrate
into society, they tend to find themselves into positions where their skills can
be most effectively used, Bards, negotiators, teachers, ect. The non-functional
finds it easier to live in the village, being overwhelmed by others emotions in
a crowd can be most disturbing.
City of Telrae
The capital of the kingdom.
College of Paths
Just inside the main gate from the King's road into Telrae stands the College
of Paths. The College of Path's was originally established by the Monks of
Telrae'dor to hold the master books of Kin for the entire kingdom. However over
the centuries it has developed into far more then that, as it become the primary
place were all Dyrlings come to learn of Athlendyr's Way, be it aspiring clerics
or paladins.
The College of Path's is also the main head quarters for the Den of Athlendyr,
and all manner of clerics, druids, knights, paladins and rangers can be found
within the walls of the College.
Cathfarn Alley
(Reserving the smaller third pie to the north east of Telrae for the main
docks as a version of Whitechapel of London. Those that live here are not
necessarily criminals, but they can be. Their speech is poor and they may
speak in a type of cant. The people here have a SLIGHTLY down trodden view
of life, not so much because of how the Dyrling's treat them, but more so
because of how the other three races treat them. Most traders and
travelers come here first as this is where the docks are. They of course
CAN go to the College of Paths, but it wouldn't be unheard of for them to think
"They wouldn't want the likes of me thar". The buildings tend to be a bit
more rundown then the rest of the city, but by no means is it as bad as the area
outside Lethe'aime. For those of you who've seen My Fair Lady, this would
be where that movie took place. The people here ARE Dyrlings, however they
sometimes have a bizarre view on things, like one may be a prostitute but hate
stealing, one may steal but have a high opinion of their virtue. They are
by and large uneducated, and very clannish. The town watch in this part of
the city is mostly comprised of those from Cathfarn Alley, as only inhabitants
are respected. If you've read Darkness at Sethanon by Raymond Feist, this
would be "Fish Town" and home of the Mockers.)
