Social OrganizationThe Dyrling race is composed of villagers and city folk. In this case, the social orders will not map directly to the overall political segregation. The Dyrlings are very much just city or villager. However, I want to include two other "sub groups". One is a knight/paladin/warrior order, where players follow their god to the most part, and players can make "contingents or troops" with in this order and specify they're religious level and specific guide lines. Perhaps they are the knights of a specific noble man, or good mercenaries. The second sub group will be a mages enclave of some type. The third order is aligned by bloodline, for both the nobility and the common folk, very much like how we have the human's of mynoc divided. The blood lines trace back to the "many children" of the god before he turned into a lion centaur. We'll leave the names of his children out of the fiction and let players make them up to support guild names. These are royal blood lines, and all people trace their kinship back to them, the direct decedents via the first born are considered the nobility. Based on this premise, I think we should allow players to be in more then one guild from a rp perspective there is some good over lap. CommonersThe Dyrling commoners are an easy going group that neither looks up to nor look down upon the nobility. They are comfortable with who they are and believe there is a role for them as much as there is a role for the nobility. NobilityThe direct descendants of Athlendyr's female children. Athlendyr before he became a "centaur" sired 3 generations of children thousands of years ago. Those that can trace their maternal lineage back to one of these three generations are consider "noble". Only those of these lines can be king. Being nobility does not necessarily mean rank and title. Rank and title being assigned by the king and council. Sora'NauA nomadic type of Dyrling similar to the Irish gypsy more so then the Rom gypsy. There is a myth that some of the Sora'Nau can also trace their maternal lineage back and claim nobility. This fact leaves the Sora'Nau in an interesting position as there is always the possibility that one of the Sora'Nau may gain the throne. However, this fact is of little interest to the Sora'Nau who find the idea of being king hilarious. LeuneAll Dyrlings carry the blood of the Tu’Danaan – commoner and noble alike. Yet occasionally one is born who carries a few of the stronger and more rare recessive traits (see personality for more general information). These Dyrlings in possession of these recessive genes are often Alear and carry the gift of second sight. Yet occasionally the recessive trait is that of the Leune Sidhe, a rare type of Tu’Danaan that can feed off of and influence the emotions of others. The curse appears at puberty, between the ages of 19-25, about the age of child bearing, these traits have never been shown in children. Unaccepted in general society unless in control of these gifts, many have sought safety in the village of Tyrnea Ghymn. Early in history, Leunes were marked with a silver crescent moon tattoo so that others of the Dyrling race would know what they were. As the powers weakened and became less common, more the stuff of legends, the tattoos became less common. From the beginning, Leunes that abused the powers have been marked with a Full moon blood tattoo over the silver crescent moon tattoo. These tattoos are traditionally located on the base of the neck at the top of the spine. Dyrlings know where to look, outsiders would not. Today, some Leunes wear the mark with pride, as a sign of what they are and can do. But the full blood moon tattoo is still the traditional mark of the abusive Leune and often is applied to the non-functional Leaune due to a lack of knowledge. There is a Dyrling belief that anyone who is greedy, self-serving or overly charming and malicious, "Has the blood of the Leune". Leunes in general are feared, do to lack of common knowledge of what they really are. The over-all knowledge is based on the non-functioning or abusive Leune, creating a 'bad reputation" so to speak. (For lack of a better description, think of Diana Troy on Star Trek.) Leune can if powerful, influence the emotions of others as well as read them. This is where the problem can arise. There are overrated stories of Leunes actually controlling people's actions but this is not documented. They can however influence someone to the point of action. But they can not tell someone what to do. For example, the Leune could be influencing someone to feel scared, but people react differently to fear, some run, some get angry, some get belligerent. So the Leune caused the fear but cannot control the reaction. (In game the use of the private message system is a must when playing a Leune....cooperation between players is mandatory.) |
