Social OrdersThe Den of Athlendyr“In the year 1045 the great Druid Luil’ene, renown throughout the lands of Comraich writes” “In protection of our home and kingdom we form the great council of elders and the contingent of protectors. From the deep borders we call ‘The Pard’, the rangers who protect our borders and kin from foe and beast. From the thick groves of knowledge we call the ‘Forest Speakers’, the Druids who protect our souls from traveling beyond the mist. From the fields and the villages we call the ‘Brother and Sisters’, the clerics, who teach his word and keep the faith with our Kin. From the churches and battlefields we call the ‘Gold Knights’, the Paladins of Athlendyr who guard our homes and our hearts. And from the cities and courts we call the ‘Final Guard’, the Knights and men of honor who guard our king and kingdom” “On this day on the dawn of invasion by our great enemy, we, by the will of he who walks among us, form The Den of Athlendyr, devoted to all who seek protection of family, king and god. To those who have sworn their lives to Kingdom, Beauty, Strength and Wisdom we gather you one and for all under a single banner.” “We bid you form contingents from the good men and women of your knowledge, to pick from them those that will lead you. To declare before the council of elders your dedication to the Way. We give unto each of the contingents rights and arms to protect our land as each sees fit.” The end of the book is inscribed in bold gold ink ... “FLY THE LION RAMPANT HIGH” The Den of Athlendyr is a blanket order for those players wishing to create guilds of rangers, paladins, knights, clerics and druids. All player guilds must build upon this established fiction by providing a premise for the creation of a specific contingent. Ranking within these guilds will determine which players are on the Council of Elders, who advise the King of Telrae'dor. The Pard is less structured and more mysterious then the other groups. They never recruit en masse. Entrance into their ranks is more a master to apprentice relationships similar to the Jedi and their Padewan. Since that's a cool name, lets call the Pard apprentices Pard'wan. Village RosterThe twelve villages of Telrae'dor are fictionally pre-approved player guilds under the Village Roster. Other guilds that are related to this can also be approved, such as the outcasts in the Queens Grove or even a grouping of the Leune. The player guilds for the villages are run by the players who live in that village. It will be up to the guilds if they allow players who are fictionally born in the village, but not currently living there to have a position in the actual guild. (However I strongly suggest you do allow this.) Once a village guild is approved positions like mayor can be assigned. Noble HousesThere are a great many noble family names and family lines in the Kingdom of Telrae'dor, however over the centuries six noble houses have come to the forefront as the land has stabled politically. The six noble houses of Blackmoor, Farhawke, Cathfarn, Lindor, Anduin and Raundon have been the premier noble houses of Telrae'dor since the building of Telrae. These houses encompass all manner of noble, merchant and knight who have sworn allegiance to them. These six houses are fictionally pre-approved as player guilds, however they operate with a slight variation then other guilds. It is not the players in the noble houses who choose the highest ranked position of Baron, Count or Duke. This position is chosen by the king. However the players may as they wish choose all other types of positions of responsibility among themselves. Each noble house has an ancestral home in their given principality, and furthermore there are six sections in the city of Telrae given over to the noble houses. (The ancestral buildings are not fancy, they are old feudal halls with a kitchen, some sleeping compartments and a big open area that can house tables & chairs, or even the villagers and their chickens in a time of war.) |
