RitualsCoronationWithin the Dyrling kingdom there is no set procedure to celebrate one being named Chil'en'atar or king. The act itself is the direct result of Athlendyr taking form and calling the individual into service. This is usually done with few words, simply and directly, as is the gods style. This can be a private act or in a more public setting. It can even occur during or after a battle. One thing remains true however, Athlendyr himself will call the person into service naming him king. The celebration of the new king again is rather open. The coronation of the king is often different and depends largely on the new Chil'en'atar's person ruling style. So that while one may call for a huge celebration and ball while another may simply post letters throughout the kingdom. Much of the coronation again depends on the ruling style of the new king although it isn't uncommon for the King to be dragged into unplanned celebrations by his friendly people. WeddingA wedding is one of the corner stone events for Dyrlings. It is always celebrated as it marks a new family being formed and old ones continuing to flourish and grow. There is usually a large ceremony with invitations being sent out across the kingdom and even into other kingdoms. Dyrling being such a friendly and open people it isn't uncommon for many races to be present at such an event. The ceremony itself is presided over by either a senior member of the clergy or by the king himself. The couple has the opportunity to present custom/personal vows or use a more standardized form. The wording may change slightly from person to person but it is through Athlendyr's authority or blessing that they are married. This is the one constant. Again as Dyrlings are a friendly race and fond of well-wishing; gifts are often given to mark the event. All those that attend are invited to a celebratory party after. It's not uncommon for the king to offer the use of the ball room for the happy event. (I thought about rings and tokens of marriage but I believe that this should
be player choice. The important part is that they are named husband and wife
with Athlendyr's authority. More will likely be added to this in the future.) |
