Commoners

Each town in Telrae'dor is likely to be a player run guild, however for some general guidelines the following positions are common:

Mayor - Voted in and bullied (smiles) into the position.  Most Dyrling commoners don't like being Mayor.

Cleric - Every Dyrling village has one cleric, sometimes two.  The Dyrling cleric normally has their day job, but is also responsible for services, marriages and general family counseling.

Innkeeper - not an elected position, but every Dyrling village has some type of gathering spot and room for visitors to sleep.  The Innkeeper is normally well respected.  Some times the inns are on the outskirts of the village, but then the innkeeper may have a home in the village.  (We'll be placing some static inns, big ones, and letting players run those inns, while still being able to have a home.)

Blacksmith - the blacksmith of the village has an interesting position, they are the person who handles the shoeing of horses, any kind of architectural work such as where to build wells, bridges or new homes, they are usually the representative of the merchants, and often the defacto captain of what ever armed men live in the villages.  In many cases, the blacksmith is also the village cleric, bringing rise to the Dyrling phrase "Going to the anvil" for hasty marriages.

Nobility

Council of Elders

Highest ranking members from the various guilds under the Den of Athlendyr who advise the king.  We will be letting the player base determine how this selection happens, and details on this will be posted as they are iron out with the player base.

Landed Nobility

There are six landed nobility titles that are not hereditary.  They are given by the king when positions are open.  The king will be a player, and it will be up to the player base as to whom is king.  The nobility titles are:

  • Baron/Baroness of Blackmoor
  • Baron/Baroness of Farhawke
  • Count/Countess of Anduin
  • Count/Countess of Lindor
  • Duke/Duchess of Cathfarn
  • Duke/Duchess of Lindor

Court Nobility

The King and his council can give "court titles" to others as they wish.  They are predominantly honorifics.  Their role on the king's council is undecided.

King

King is also not a hereditary title.  The king is selected by Athlendyr of those of noble blood.  The current king is Threave.

Sora'Nau

The "Grandmothers" of each family will occasionally gather to discuss family things like traveling routes, conflict that may have arisen between the families, possible marriages between families, and the like.  No matter what family they came from, they would be treated with the same respect by a Sora’Nau that their own "Grandmother" would have.  A respected position not necessarily held by the oldest female, it’s more of a position of being handed down to a protégé when the appropriate time came {Death, or some other thing that would make it so she could not do it any longer /No senility doesn't stop her/}.

Gypsy King - a position elected by the grandmothers of each family denoting the head of the Sora'Nau.

Grimmwold is a private free Ultima Online shard.  We focus on roleplay, or RP was its called.  Role-players will find an exciting and flexible fantasy world based on Grimm Fairy Tales, European Myth and Lore, and some modern children stories such as Narnia featured in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  However we are an adults only role-play game, privately hosted on our own online server.  Ultima Online is an older MMORPG game created many years back by OSI and now owned be EA.  For those who are fans of UO, and fans of RP, Ultima Online has maintained an incredible following both on the public servers and private shards such as ours.
