Personality

Like all the races of Comraich the personalities of the Dyrlings vary widely, however they are more commonly outgoing, accommodating and patient then the average member of the other races.

The Dyrling are an easygoing race. Often ready to accept a good persons differences rather then cast them aside. This is a highly accepting people, eager to meet new faces and experience their world. The common Dyrling is an outgoing person and one is more likely to make a friend with him then an enemy. They tend to be a rather accommodating people as they have been known to take in thieves into their homes to help them out; this is considered to be their seeing the potential for good in all people and usually most people can bring that out after talking with them a while.

Few Dyrling are violent or even release outbursts in public. They are well known for their patience and understanding and most of this can be attributed to their devotion to Athlendyr. Many of these people desire to co-exist peacefully with the other races and pleasantly talk and trade with them all. This peaceful and generally exuberant exterior only lasts as long as the Dyrling enjoys the visitor's company. To betray a Dyrling's trust is to invite being outcast from his home and depending on the severity even ostracized by the community at large.

Though these are simply the commonalties in the Dyrling people, many differences can be expressed between their emotions and personalities and only some possess all of these qualities together at once. One commonality seen in all Dyrling is a respect and love for life. To disregard life and to disrespect the dead is seen as blasphemy in their culture, and is dealt with quickly. Aside of this they are a very tolerant people and are willing to open their arms and their homes to a new friend.

Dyrlings, in a general way, are conciliate people. The Dyrlings believe in respecting other people and races choices, as long as it doesn't interfere with their own personal freedom. Also, since they have a great respect for life, violence is rarely an option for them but will be used without hesitation if needed. Someone who breaks the peace in Dyrling's land will most likely be banished. In the case of a Dyrling, it is more likely to see him come before the people for forgiveness. For a stranger, the most likely outcome will be a command to never come back.

A common Dyrling's quote is "You don't leave a stray cat out in the street to die from hunger". These people cherish life, Dyrlings will probably help, to a certain point, those in need of assistance, either stranger and follow Dyrling. A Dyrling is not likely to abuse this kindness, but if a stranger should choose to do so, he will most likely end up in the street again. Since Dyrlings are a close community, everyone will probably know the story by the end of the day.

Dyrlings are accommodating yet protective of Kin and Home. Overall, the Dyrlings warmly accept visitors to their land with a pleasant smile and a hot meal. They might invite you into their home to rest or share a cup of tea. They might even invite you to participate in their festivities, dances, and merry making. But at the end of the day, don't be alarmed if they graciously send you on your way with a warm smile and wave. If this seems odd it should be noted that this is only for their own protection. You might invite a stranger in for a meal if they're hungry, but you probably would think twice about inviting them to stay the night in your den.

Rare Personality Types

Many if not all Dyrlings are descended from the Tu'Danaan.  And quite a few carry the blood of the Alvar.  (see origins for more information)

In rare cases these blood lines are carried more strongly in a Dyrling, and by such they are less your typical steady jovial Dyrling character and more a throwback to one of these two bloodlines.

Those where the Tu'Danaan bloodline is most strong are more likely to be greedy, self serving, overly charming or even subtly malicious.  (See the Leune for the most rare version of this effect.)

Those where the Alvar bloodline is most strong are more likely to be exceptional proud, reserved, contemplative and have little or no sense of material value, and have a strong desire for natural order and balance.
