Animals

Dyrlings have few herd animals. However they have managed to raise lamb, pigs, hogs, and chicken. Wild deer, wild boars and bear also exist in abundance in the Telrae'dor forest, along with wolfs, various birds, rabbits, and squirrels.

Many Dyrlings are excellent horsemen, using the beasts for both travel and field work. No Dyrling ranger would feel at ease in the forest without a trained hunting cat, just like no farmer or good housewife would be without a cat.

Cabbyl dhone, nicknamed the "Joan", a light riding horse standing about 18 hands high, though light in the withers and across the chest. Commonly used for travel by Dyrlings of any social background.

The Cabbyl caggee, nicknamed the "Caggy", used as both a draft horse and war horse, stands between 18 to 20 hands high, is broad across the chest and has a broader forehead than the Cabbyl dhone. The hooves of the Cabbyl caggee take a larger shoe.

Wild Animals

Not all animals thrive in the wilds of Telrae'dor.  The following is a list of what could be found wild in Telrae'dor

  • Pigs (hogs)
  • Chickens (goose)
  • Roe Deer
  • Hare (rabbit)
  • Eagles
  • Brown Bear
  • Grizzly Bear
  • Lions
  • Boar
  • Timber Wolf

Domestic

Animals can be gotten from other kingdoms and will do well in a farm setting as individual creatures.

  • Cows
  • Goats
  • Pigs
  • Chickens
  • Sheep

Keeping Herds

Telrae'dor can not support large herds of cows, sheep or goats, there is not enough room for these creatures to range.  However herds of pigs and chickens do well under the careful hand of the Dyrling farmer.

Obviously beef, mutton and wool are not prime exports for Telrae'dor, and they import most of those resources.

(The question of "keeping herds" does not come in until animal breeding is finished.  But when that is completed, there will be a limit on the sizes of herds for certain animals as listed above.)
