The Lands of the Dyrlings
Dyrling are known throughout Comraich as the Children of Athlendyr or the Lion people. This softly magical race embodies all that is beautiful and mystical in the great forest Kingdom of Telrae'dor. They still believe in magical glades, fairies, the sanctity of life as well as the rightness of truth and honor. Evil has a hard time surviving amongst these people since their god Athlendyr, the lion centaur, is actively involved with his followers. Dyrling will tell you that Athlendyr is he who rules the forest and sleeps in the sun. Outland people tend to think the Dyrlings are weak, slaves to fashion and their ritual daily naps. But like their treasure cats, their sleepy gaze belies the Dyrlings' ability to move quickly with agility and deadly purpose. This is why they make incredibly skilled Rangers, powerful yet honorable Paladins and Knights, as well as talented Mages and Druids. Dyrling are also fine craftsman, smiths, tailors and cooks. They have developed all types of farming implements and tools to make their lives easier. While their smithing talents may not be as notable as the Valgarin Dverge, the quality is just as good. The Dyrlings are also well known for their delicate lace work and many merchants within the Kingdoms of Comraich vie for the rights to sell the tailored goods. Dyrlings' enjoyment of food has led them to be among the finest cooks in the lands; but looking at them with their lithe forms and fine delicate features a person would never guess that food is an important part of their lives. The most important thing in life though, to a Dyrling, is kinship. Through Athlendyr's teaching of it takes a village to raise a family. The Dyrlings have learned to be patient, forgiving, and respectful to one another. Their society is not based on what one person gains, but on what each person gives to the community. The only real fault that a Dyrling has is vanity. It culminates in the acquiring of fine goods that are displayed proudly for all to see as well as exquisite harps, flutes and lutes that are played by the finest musicians in the Kingdom. To a Dyrling, they are the most beautiful race simply because Athlendyr is their father. |
